Bliss

new years resolution #1: write in my blog more.
nyr #2: find bliss.

i am just beginning to read "eat pray love" and my god, not meaning to sound cocky, but i'd almost thought i'd written it i can relate so incredibly at times. i am 3/4 way through the author's first city of adventure, italy, where she attempts to bathe in pleasure. without sex mind you. :) and...she is teaching me so many beautiful italian words and phrases. why i didnt read this sooner i am not sure.

i highly recommend the read. so far specifically her thoughts on antidepressants, "god", and of how she gives of herself. its a beautiful read. thanks laura.

so, as much as i wish i could currently afford my own year long self finding journey (not to say it wont happen....) i am hoping to find some thngs of myself my past that i lost in this year of oh nine...

so bliss. there are a few reasons this word stands out to me...it simply encompasses something i wish to experience. again. or, maybe for the first time? i found it ironically great that its definition was as simple as it is. i hear obtaining bliss can be so simple...

lyric(s)

probably my greatest love of words is in lyrics. i cannot live without music. i am usually more drawn to a song because of its words than its sound first. sometimes just a single line will catch me and immediately affect me in a very profound way. and only later when i really read through the lyrics do i see how much it relates to my life. yet it seems i find the songs (or they find me...) before the moment arrives. so when it arrives there is already a song that plays in my head to the moment.

here are some favorites. if i had followers they might share theirs too...

favorite all time ever song: the longest time, billy joel
http://www.oldielyrics.com/lyrics/billy_joel/the_longest_time.html

some songs that found me...
one thing, finger eleven http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/fingereleven/onething.html
but honestly, foo fighters http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/foofighters/buthonestly.html
apolgies, grace potter and the nocturnals http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/gracepotterandthenocturnals/apologies.html

some current obsessions:
believe, bravery http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/bravery/believe.html
run, snow patrol http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/snowpatrol/run.html
bleeding love, leona lewis http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/leonalewis/bleedinglove.html

and one that i think is worthy of posting for the intent of this blog...
Say, John Mayer

Take all of your wasted honor
Every little past frustration
Take all of your so-called problems,
Better put 'em in quotations
Say what you need to say [x8]
Walking like a one man army
Fighting with the shadows in your head
Living out the same old moment
Knowing you'd be better off instead,
If you could only . . .
Say what you need to say [x8]
Have no fear for giving in
Have no fear for giving over
You'd better know that in the end
Its better to say too much
Then never say what you need to say again
Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with a heart wide open
Say what you need to say [x24]

depression

"they" are talking about economical depression on the news a lot. the economy is, depressing, as little as i (chose) to know about it... one of those "too big i dont want to think about it" kind of a things... i will worry about that tomorrow.

but my economical state is depressing. really.

i am very curious about depression. the mental state that is. at what point of "distraught" is one DEPRESSED. mw: by sadness, inactivity, difficulty in thinking and concentration, a significant increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping, feelings of dejection and hopelessness, and sometimes suicidal tendencies c (1): a reduction in activity, amount, quality, or force (2): a lowering of vitality or functional activity 3: a depressed place or part : hollow

i could raise my hand to a few of those! is it amount of time spent as such? or extremity. and who can really compare 2 different people and feel or understand their "state"? isn't it only possible to be a percption based on one's own reality. how do i know if i feel more depressed than you...who can truly judge that?

rock

rock was a simple choice. so many meanings. so many that i love! some that i dont so much...

rock. as in the second of the trio of "word. rock. yo" i am pretty sure i was rock.... but was i word? i wasn't yo. wasi? wow. (if you don't understand that, you likely shouldn't. its an inside joke. but i guess if i never have many followers...ha ha followers....)

rock as in in between that and this fucking hard place. "rock the boat". rock solid. rocks. like the ones we would try to skim in yosemite rivers. skimming (or attempting to even) rocks always makes me feel like a kid! much of yosemite is made of rock...

the obvious music. my first very clear "rock music experience" waas driving to nana and grandads playing billy joel, innocent man. that was first and immediate love. forever love. but like all loves, it hurts sometimes now. there is very rare a feeling like being close up at a show when the band is rockin it, you're hair is rockin, and hopefully, later, something else is a rocking.

have i ever had a "rock"? i have had best friends, and heroes and anchors and solace and peace and easy and mirrors and sisters and lovers, and the ability to just be me... but have i had a rock to depend on. like a chevy? those that should be your first two, sadly, never could be, for very different reasons. but now i, like she, ...if i had a rock, would i even believe in its ability to not roll away or crumble into dust?

if i had a hammer. i'd have used it on your rock paper scissors. i dont get it...

i am surprised by its main entry being a verb merriam. or webster. whoever wrote the defintion of rock. but now that i stopped and think i get that i missed "rocking" as in a baby to sleep. so not where my head is going.
